A week of AI-assisted coding reduced StarkWare’s estimated cost for a quantum-safe Bitcoin transaction from $320 to $66, according to CoinDesk. StarkWare said participants in its research contest completed the relevant computation about five times faster while using AI tools. The lower estimate highlights how coding assistance can affect the projected cost of developing and executing quantum-resistant transaction methods for Bitcoin. However, the $66 figure remains an estimate and has not yet been demonstrated in another transaction mined on the Bitcoin network. The research therefore indicates a faster computation and a substantially lower projected transaction cost, rather than a confirmed network-wide benchmark. Bitcoin is the primary market asset linked to the development, while the findings may also draw attention to wider efforts to improve the cryptocurrency’s long-term security against quantum-computing risks.
