Binance.US is reportedly pursuing a private funding round of up to $100 million that could value the US cryptocurrency exchange at approximately $1 billion, as it seeks to expand and rebuild its position in the market.
The potential deal would represent a substantial reduction from the valuation Binance.US obtained in its previous major financing. In 2022, the exchange raised $200 million in seed funding at a pre-money valuation of $4.5 billion. A $1 billion valuation for the new round would therefore be well below that earlier figure.
According to reporting by Bloomberg cited by Cointelegraph, Binance.US has been approaching potential private investors about the proposed financing. The company reportedly contacted World Liberty Financial, a crypto platform co-founded by US President Donald Trump and his sons, about the round. World Liberty Financial is not expected to participate.
Funding comes after regulatory settlement
The reported fundraising effort follows a difficult period for Binance’s US operations. Binance.US is seeking to regain market share from larger competitors after Binance Holdings Ltd. reached a settlement with US authorities in 2023.
Under that agreement, Binance Holdings agreed to pay $4.3 billion in penalties and accept additional monitoring and oversight. Changpeng Zhao, who was then the company’s chief executive, pleaded guilty to a felony charge. Zhao served four months in prison and received a pardon from Trump in 2025.
The proposed financing is reportedly intended to support Binance.US as it works to expand its business and compete more effectively. The source material did not disclose the identities of other potential investors, the precise terms of the round or whether the full $100 million would be raised.
Links to World Liberty Financial
The reported outreach to World Liberty Financial comes after the two crypto businesses were connected through a separate transaction last year. Binance was involved in a controversial $2 billion investment between an entity tied to United Arab Emirates royalty and World Liberty Financial, using World Liberty’s USD1 stablecoin.
A stablecoin is a cryptocurrency designed to maintain a relatively stable value, commonly by being linked to a reference asset such as a fiat currency. In this case, the reported transaction involved USD1, but World Liberty Financial will not participate in the Binance.US funding round, according to the report.
