Bitcoin’s price remained above $80,000 after U.S. spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded their strongest combined daily inflows in a month, but analysts warned that renewed weakness in stocks could reduce demand for cryptocurrencies and put pressure on key support levels.
According to CoinDesk, the funds attracted about $527 million in net inflows on Monday. The result was driven almost entirely by BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, or IBIT, which received $665 million—its largest daily inflow in more than a year. Funds from Fidelity and Grayscale, by contrast, recorded withdrawals.
The buying came as bitcoin traded at $82,687.80, down about 1.1% over the preceding 24 hours in the source report. Ether fell 1.7% to $2,452.38, while the broader CoinDesk 20 Index declined roughly 1.6%. Weakness in Asian equities and a rise in oil prices contributed to the softer tone across markets.
Bitcoin demand strengthens, but remains concentrated
Spot bitcoin ETFs hold bitcoin directly and allow investors to gain exposure through a conventional exchange-traded fund structure rather than buying and storing the cryptocurrency themselves. Net inflows indicate that more money entered the funds than left them during the session, although the aggregate figure can conceal significant differences between individual products.
That was evident in Monday’s figures. BlackRock’s IBIT accounted for more than the combined net inflow across the group, while withdrawals from Fidelity and Grayscale reduced the overall total. The concentration means the day represented strong demand for one major product, rather than an evenly distributed surge across the U.S. spot bitcoin ETF market.
The contrast with ether funds was also notable. U.S. spot ether ETFs recorded $103.3 million in net outflows, marking their fourth consecutive day of withdrawals. The different performances pointed to demand that was specific to bitcoin rather than a broad-based appetite for crypto assets, according to the market commentary cited in the report.
The inflows nevertheless offered encouragement to bitcoin bulls, with the price holding above the $80,000 level highlighted by QCP Capital analysts. Their assessment was that sustained weakness across equities could spread into cryptocurrency markets and threaten that support.
Stocks, oil and interest rates shape the backdrop
QCP Capital wrote that broader equity deleveraging could be transmitted to digital assets. At the time of the report, both Nasdaq 100 futures and S&P 500 futures were lower, while Coinbase Global and Galaxy Digital were falling in pre-market trading. A decline in shares linked to the crypto sector can reinforce concerns about appetite for higher-risk assets, although the source did not establish a direct cause for the moves.
The macroeconomic environment also remained unsettled. The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield was around 5.13%, while Brent crude traded near $110 a barrel. Higher oil prices can add to concerns about energy-related inflation, particularly when geopolitical conditions remain unresolved. The report said that risk could become more significant if the geopolitical backdrop failed to improve.
The Federal Reserve was widely expected to keep interest rates unchanged at its next meeting. At the same time, prediction markets were pricing a 25-basis-point increase for the following month. That combination offered limited reassurance to investors concerned about tighter financial conditions.
QCP Capital also identified a different possible support for risk assets: a continuing rally in Treasury bonds, especially if real yields declined and the U.S. dollar weakened. Those conditions could improve the backdrop for assets such as cryptocurrencies, but the analysts’ comments did not amount to a forecast that they would occur.
Moneyiar market picture
Moneyiar market data at 08:32-08:33 on Oct. 21, 2026, showed bitcoin at $83,135.94, up 2.17% over 24 hours but down 0.72% over seven days.
Among the other assets covered by the data:
- Monad was priced at $0.02217, up 6.20% over 24 hours and down 11.28% over seven days.
- Flow stood at $0.03085, gaining 4.77% over 24 hours while losing 6.79% over seven days.
- Ontology traded at $0.05359, up 1.61% over 24 hours and down 1.70% over seven days.
The later Moneyiar snapshot placed bitcoin above the $82,687.80 level cited in the original report, while its seven-day performance remained slightly negative. That combination reflected a stronger short-term move alongside a modest weekly decline, without resolving the broader question of whether equity-market weakness could weigh on future crypto demand.
