Bitcoin ETFs Lose $635.6 Million as October Flows Turn Negative Again

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs lost $635.6 million on Thursday, wiping out most of a three-day inflow streak and pushing October flows back into the red. Ethereum and Solana funds also recorded withdrawals, while crypto prices remained comparatively stable before weakening in Moneyiar’s latest market snapshot.

Bitcoin ETFs Lose $635.6 Million as October Flows Turn Negative Again

U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds suffered their largest daily outflow of October on Thursday, losing $635.6 million and reversing much of the strong buying seen earlier in the week. According to Decrypt’s ETF tracker, the withdrawal pushed the funds’ combined October result back into negative territory, despite Bitcoin’s price remaining relatively stable.

Bitcoin funds erase most of the week’s gains

The latest outflow removed nearly 60% of the approximately $1.07 billion that investors had placed into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs during the previous three trading sessions. It was the largest one-day withdrawal recorded by the funds this month, exceeding the $484.9 million exit seen on Oct. 7.

Before Thursday’s reversal, Bitcoin ETFs had accumulated about $460 million in net inflows for October. The latest figures reduced that result to an estimated $176 million net outflow for the month.

Since their launch, the funds have recorded cumulative net inflows of $57.8 billion. Their total net assets stood at approximately $100.2 billion after Thursday’s trading session.

Spot crypto ETFs hold the underlying digital asset and trade on stock exchanges, allowing investors to obtain exposure through a conventional brokerage account rather than purchasing and storing cryptocurrency directly. The U.S. Bitcoin products began trading in January 2024, and their daily flow figures are closely watched because they provide an indication of demand from institutions, advisers and other market participants.

Ethereum and Solana products also see withdrawals

The selling was not limited to Bitcoin funds. U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs recorded $110.6 million in outflows, one day after ending a five-session run of withdrawals. Their October outflows have now reached about $1.18 billion, although their cumulative net inflows since launch remain approximately $12.7 billion.

Solana ETFs lost a further $8.9 million on Thursday. That brought their October outflows to roughly $68 million, with the funds recording inflows on only two days during the month.

The simultaneous withdrawals came during a difficult session for broader markets. Oil prices moved above $111 a barrel while artificial-intelligence stocks declined, weighing on the S&P 500 and markets internationally. The Federal Reserve is scheduled to meet on Oct. 27 and 28. Traders are anticipating a hold, meaning no increase in interest rates, a stance that generally supports demand for risk-sensitive assets such as cryptocurrencies.

Despite the scale of the ETF selling, the major cryptocurrencies did not experience an equally sharp immediate price move. Bitcoin was trading near $81,460 on Friday, little changed over 24 hours and down 0.4% over the week. Ethereum was around $2,400, down 0.2%, while Solana was near $104, lower by 0.3%.

Their declines over a longer 30-day period were more pronounced: Bitcoin had fallen 4.8%, Ethereum 11.4% and Solana 10.4%. The overall crypto market was valued at about $2.85 trillion, while trading volume dropped 20% to $67.1 billion.

Market picture: Moneyiar data

Moneyiar market data at 08:13-08:14 on Oct. 24, 2026, showed further weakness across the main assets:

  • Bitcoin: $80,655.76, down 1.15% over 24 hours and 1.17% over seven days.
  • Ethereum: $2,370.53, down 1.40% over 24 hours and 2.51% over seven days.
  • Solana: $101.79, down 2.52% over 24 hours and 2.98% over seven days.
  • Shiba Inu: $0.000004917, down 2.46% over 24 hours and 3.16% over seven days.

The Moneyiar figures are a separate market snapshot from the prices reported after Thursday’s ETF session, so they reflect later trading conditions.

Traders reduce expectations for an October breakout

The latest ETF reversal has also coincided with more cautious expectations among traders on Myriad, a prediction market developed by Decrypt’s parent company, Dastan. Participants now assign Bitcoin a 17% probability of rising above $87,500 before the end of October, down from 20% a day earlier. They assign a 9% probability to Bitcoin reaching $90,000.

At the same time, traders put the odds of Bitcoin falling to $77,500 at 32%. Sentiment in Myriad’s open-ended markets is more positive for the other two major tokens: users give Ethereum a 61.3% chance of reaching $3,000 before falling to $1,500, while Solana has a 54.9% chance of reaching $160 before $40.

The combination of heavy fund withdrawals, subdued prices and reduced expectations for a near-term Bitcoin breakout leaves the market in a cautious, wait-and-see phase. The next Federal Reserve meeting and subsequent ETF flow reports are likely to remain among the closely followed developments for crypto investors, although the available figures do not establish how either will affect prices.
