Bitcoin ETFs Extend Inflow Streak to Nine Sessions, Surpassing August Total

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $66.19 million in net inflows on Sept. 29, extending their positive run to nine consecutive sessions and matching the length of a similar rally in August. According to Decrypt, the latest streak has attracted about $3.08 billion since Sept. 17, slightly more than the roughly $3.04 billion collected during August’s nine-day run.

ETF demand remains positive

The two streaks are equal in duration, but the latest period has raised about $33 million more. The comparison is being watched because ETF flows are commonly used as a gauge of investor demand for Bitcoin. Spot Bitcoin ETFs provide exposure to the cryptocurrency without requiring investors to purchase it directly through an exchange or store it in a digital wallet. Their shares trade through brokerage accounts and are designed to track Bitcoin’s price.

The latest inflows followed a sharp reversal in fund activity. On Sept. 16, the Federal Reserve raised its interest-rate target by 25 basis points to a range of 3.75% to 4%, its first increase since 2023. Bitcoin fell to about $75,000 that week, while the ETFs recorded roughly $746 million in outflows across two days.

Flows turned positive on Sept. 17, when the funds received $159.5 million. Bitcoin moved back above $80,000 within two days. Daily inflows then reached $999 million on Sept. 21, and the week ending Sept. 25 brought in $2.4 billion—the largest weekly total since October 2025. That performance returned the funds to positive territory for 2026.

Bitcoin remains below its recent high

Despite the sustained ETF demand, the pace of daily inflows has slowed considerably. The $999 million recorded on Sept. 21 compares with only $66.19 million on Sept. 29. Bitcoin was trading near $84,400 on Wednesday, around 1% higher on the day and recovering from losses recorded Monday. That price remained below its September high of about $87,350.

The cryptocurrency is also about one-third below its October 2025 record of $126,296. The broader backdrop has included the Treasury’s Aug. 19 announcement that it would double longer-dated bond buybacks to at least $4 billion per operation. Bitcoin reached $69,000 that day for the first time in two months.

The current ETF streak has not yet matched the longest recent run: 13 consecutive days in June 2025. Maintaining the latest run through Monday, Oct. 5, would be required to reach that mark.
