Bitcoin ETFs Turn October Positive After $1.07 Billion Three-Day Inflow

U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds have recovered their October losses in just three trading sessions, attracting about $1.07 billion as investors returned to the products despite a renewed decline in cryptocurrency prices. According to Decrypt, Wednesday’s inflow reached $524.8 million, extending a buying streak that began on Monday.

Bitcoin funds reverse monthly losses

The latest inflows were enough to push Bitcoin ETFs from a monthly deficit into positive territory. The funds had lost approximately $615 million through last Friday, but are now ahead by about $460 million for October.

Monday produced $526.7 million in net inflows, the strongest daily result since September 22. All of that day’s inflow came through BlackRock’s IBIT, the firm’s spot Bitcoin ETF. The turnaround followed a two-week period during which the group lost roughly $910 million.

Since their launch, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs have accumulated $58.4 billion in net inflows and hold total net assets of $100.8 billion. ETF inflows measure money entering the funds after accounting for withdrawals, offering one indication of investor demand for exposure to Bitcoin through regulated market products rather than by holding the cryptocurrency directly.

The renewed buying also came during a week when J.P. Morgan Asset Management issued its first long-term Bitcoin forecast. The asset manager projected a 10% compound annual return over the next 10 to 15 years, while also warning that Bitcoin could experience volatility of 55%.

Ethereum ETFs remain deeply negative

Ethereum ETFs also posted a positive session on Wednesday, taking in $14.9 million and ending a five-day outflow run. That earlier streak had removed about $389 million from the funds.

The single-day recovery has not changed the broader monthly picture. Ethereum ETFs remain down approximately $1.07 billion for October, although their cumulative net inflows since launch stand at $12.8 billion.

ETF demand has not translated into higher prices. Bitcoin was reported at about $81,470 on Thursday, down 2.4% over 24 hours but still 2% higher over the week. That followed a sharp retreat from a weekly high near $85,000 reached the previous day. Ethereum fell 2.6% to roughly $2,393, while the total cryptocurrency market value declined 2.9% to $2.84 trillion. Zcash dropped 5.6%, despite remaining nearly 14% higher over seven days.

Traders see limited near-term Bitcoin breakout odds

Prediction-market participants on Myriad, developed by Decrypt parent company Dastan, are assigning relatively low probabilities to a major Bitcoin move before October ends. They place a 20% chance on Bitcoin exceeding $87,500 and 9% odds of reaching $90,000. The probability of a decline to $77,500 is 35%; Bitcoin briefly traded below $80,000 last week.

Myriad traders are more optimistic about Ethereum reaching $3,000 before falling to $1,500, assigning that outcome a 61.3% probability. A potential market catalyst is the Federal Reserve’s scheduled October 27-28 meeting, with persistent inflation leaving another rate increase under consideration.
