US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds returned to weekly net outflows on Wednesday, with investors withdrawing about $262 million as Bitcoin fell below $82,000. The latest data marked a sharp reversal from the $176 million of inflows recorded by the funds one day earlier, according to reporting by Cointelegraph based on SoSoValue figures.
The withdrawals brought Bitcoin ETF net outflows for the week through Wednesday to approximately $151 million. That followed a considerably larger $681 million net outflow during the previous week, showing that demand for the funds remained under pressure as the cryptocurrency market weakened.
Bitcoin funds reverse course
The latest outflows came as Bitcoin extended its decline after moving below $82,000 following the release of a US inflation report. Bitcoin was trading near $80,741 at the time of the original report and was down 3.2% over the preceding 24 hours, based on CoinGecko data.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs hold Bitcoin directly and allow investors to gain exposure through exchange-traded products rather than buying and storing the cryptocurrency themselves. Their daily creations and redemptions are closely watched because they provide an indication of investor flows into or out of regulated Bitcoin investment products.
Wednesday’s result contrasted with Tuesday’s $176 million of net inflows. However, the weekly total remained less negative than the previous week’s $681 million withdrawal, based on the figures cited in the report.
Ether, Solana and Zcash products also lose money
The selling was not limited to Bitcoin-linked funds. US ETFs tracking Ether recorded about $130 million in outflows on Wednesday, taking their net withdrawals for the week to roughly $190 million. Ether ETFs had already recorded $542 million in outflows the previous week and $138 million the week before that.
Solana ETFs saw around $1.3 million leave on Wednesday. The move extended an outflow streak to eight consecutive trading sessions and lifted withdrawals for the current week to $3 million.
Zcash ETFs provided a partial exception on the day, attracting about $3.7 million. Even so, their net flow for the week remained negative at approximately $3.2 million.
XRP funds stand apart
XRP ETFs were the only one of the five tracked categories to maintain positive net flows for the week through Wednesday. They attracted about $740,000 during the session, bucking the broader pattern affecting Bitcoin, Ether, Solana and Zcash products.
The divergence highlights that ETF flows can vary significantly by digital asset, even when several cryptocurrency markets are moving lower at the same time. Positive flows into XRP products did not offset the withdrawals from the larger Bitcoin and Ether categories.
