Bitcoin and Ether ETFs lose $549 million as October Ether outflows approach $1 billion

US spot Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded funds recorded a combined $549 million in net outflows last week, extending a period of withdrawals that has now lasted two weeks for Bitcoin products and three weeks for Ether funds.

According to Cointelegraph, data from SoSoValue showed that Bitcoin ETFs lost about $229 million during the week, while Ether ETFs recorded approximately $320 million in net withdrawals. The figures indicate that investors continued to reduce exposure to two of the biggest crypto-linked fund categories, although the pace of outflows was slower than the previous week’s combined $1.22 billion.

Ether funds face their weakest month of 2026

Ether ETFs have seen roughly $955 million leave the funds so far in October. That makes the month the largest period of monthly net outflows for the products this year.

The latest withdrawals came alongside weaker market performance for both major cryptocurrencies. Ether fell 5% over the seven days covered by the report to about $2,433, while Bitcoin declined 1.3% to approximately $82,783 at the time of publication, based on CoinGecko data.

ETF outflows measure the net amount withdrawn from the funds after accounting for new purchases. They can therefore provide an indication of investor flows into regulated exchange-traded products, but do not by themselves show the total level of demand across the wider cryptocurrency market.

Other crypto ETFs also record withdrawals

The selling was not limited to Bitcoin and Ether products. Solana ETFs registered about $26 million in net outflows for the week, followed by Zcash funds with $19 million and Hyperliquid funds with $18 million.

Funds linked to XRP and BNB posted smaller withdrawals of approximately $1.8 million and $285,000, respectively. The figures show that several other crypto ETF categories also experienced net redemptions during the same period.

Despite the recent losses, both Bitcoin and Ether ETFs remained positive for 2026 as a whole. Bitcoin funds had attracted about $259 million in net inflows year to date, while Ether ETFs had drawn approximately $610 million.
