Bitcoin and Ether ETFs Near $1 Billion in October Outflows

US spot Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded funds have suffered nearly $1 billion in combined net outflows in October, as crypto prices weakened and investors continued withdrawing money from Ether products. The figures point to sustained selling pressure across the two largest cryptocurrency ETF markets.

Ether funds extend losing streak

According to Cointelegraph, Bitcoin ETFs recorded $244.1 million in net outflows on Thursday, following $484.9 million in withdrawals a day earlier. Wednesday’s outflow was the largest single-day withdrawal from Bitcoin ETFs since June 25.

Ether ETFs recorded another $72.5 million in net outflows on Thursday. That extended their run of daily outflows to eight consecutive trading sessions, beginning on Sept. 29. Across that period, Ether funds lost approximately $641.3 million on a net basis.

For October as a whole, Bitcoin ETFs have recorded $407.4 million in net outflows, while Ether ETFs have posted $578.9 million. Together, the products have seen $986.3 million leave during the month.

Spot cryptocurrency ETFs hold the underlying asset and trade on stock exchanges. Their net flows are closely watched because they provide an indication of whether money is moving into or out of regulated investment products linked directly to Bitcoin or Ether.

Bitcoin rally loses momentum

The withdrawals have come as Bitcoin’s recent advance has weakened. Bitcoin fell as low as $80,427 on Thursday, according to CoinGecko, before trading at $82,506 at the time of the source report.

Glassnode said a recovery in spot-market trading volume together with renewed ETF buying would indicate that Bitcoin’s recent breakout had stronger underlying support. The comment highlights the importance of both direct market activity and ETF flows in assessing whether a price move is being sustained.

The ETF data does not by itself establish why investors withdrew funds. It does, however, show that net redemptions have continued in both Bitcoin and Ether products, with Ether experiencing the longer uninterrupted period of outflows.
