CryptoQuant CEO Says Bitcoin Hashrate Recovery Signals Institutional Confidence

Bitcoin’s network hashrate has climbed sharply from its summer low, and CryptoQuant founder and CEO Ki Young Ju says the recovery is an indirect bullish signal from traditional financial institutions supporting publicly listed mining companies.

Hashrate recovery strengthens Bitcoin’s fundamentals

According to Cointelegraph, Bitcoin’s hashrate rose from about 726 exahashes per second (EH/s) in July to roughly 1,050 EH/s on Wednesday, a recovery of approximately 45%, based on CryptoQuant data.

Hashrate measures the computing power dedicated to a blockchain network. In Bitcoin’s case, it reflects the number of hash calculations miners perform every second. A higher hashrate generally means more computing power is securing the network and competing to process transactions and add new blocks.

Ju said the increase points to stronger network security and improved fundamentals for Bitcoin as a store of value. He described it as an indirect signal from institutional investors because many public Bitcoin miners receive backing from traditional finance institutions.

The recovery has not yet taken Bitcoin’s hashrate back to its previous record. The network reached 1,305 EH/s in October 2025, when Bitcoin was trading above $111,000. The cryptocurrency was changing hands at about $81,843 as US equities markets opened on Thursday, according to the source report.

NIP Group adds mining hardware

The hashrate increase is also being supported by expansion among publicly traded miners. Nasdaq-listed NIP Group has announced a third tranche of an on-rack asset purchase agreement covering approximately 4.47 EH/s of Bitcoin mining hardware that has already been deployed.

Once completed, the transaction is expected to raise the combined hashrate from all three tranches to 13.85 EH/s. NIP Group currently has 3.11 EH/s of operating capacity and ranks as the 16th-largest public Bitcoin miner, according to Ziven data. Bitdeer holds the top position, with 79.9 EH/s.

The company’s expansion comes despite significant pressure on its shares. NIP Group stock fell 6.8% on Wednesday to close at $6.10, extending its decline over the previous year to 86%, according to Yahoo Finance.

Other major miners also declined during Wednesday’s US market selloff. TeraWulf, Core Scientific, Cipher Mining and IREN each fell by about 12%. The report said higher-than-expected inflation figures weighed on Bitcoin miners and companies involved in artificial-intelligence infrastructure.
