Bloomberg has introduced a stablecoin analytics dashboard for users of its professional Terminal, bringing blockchain-based information on supply, issuance and transaction activity into a platform already used for financial-market research and trading. The new tool is designed to help users examine stablecoins across networks and compare their activity using regularly updated data.
What the dashboard tracks
Powered by blockchain data provider Allium, the dashboard supplies hourly information on stablecoin markets. It covers stablecoins with more than $100 million in circulation, a group Bloomberg says represents more than 98% of the overall market.
Users can compare individual stablecoins across several measures, including:
- Circulating supply and new issuance, or “mints”
- Reductions in supply, known as “burns”
- Transfer volume and transaction velocity
- Activity by blockchain network and by the type of asset to which a stablecoin is pegged
Stablecoins are digital tokens designed to maintain a value linked to another asset, commonly a fiat currency. The dashboard also allows users to distinguish between tokens pegged to currencies and those linked to commodities, according to the announcement.
Data joins Bloomberg’s existing market tools
The dashboard is available to all Bloomberg Terminal users through the RWAS <GO> function. Its onchain information appears alongside Bloomberg’s existing tools for fixed-income markets, foreign exchange and money markets.
That placement connects data recorded on public blockchains with the types of market information traditionally used by banks, asset managers and other financial professionals. The Terminal provides real-time market data, news, analytics, trading and communications services.
According to Cointelegraph, Bloomberg has supported cryptocurrency market coverage for more than a decade, beginning with Bitcoin pricing on the platform in 2014. It now provides pricing, reference data, identifiers and benchmarks for 50 cryptocurrencies.
Stablecoin market context
The launch comes as the total stablecoin market capitalization has moved above $306 billion, based on DeFiLlama data cited in the source material. Tether’s USDT represents roughly 60% of that market.
The new dashboard’s focus on supply, issuance, transfers and network activity gives Terminal users a way to study stablecoins through both market figures and blockchain activity. Rather than relying only on quoted prices, users can examine how tokens are created, removed from circulation and moved across different networks.
