Breez Says AI Coding Agents Push Bitcoin Integration Requests 14-Fold Higher

Breez says inquiries about adding Bitcoin payments rose roughly 14-fold after AI coding tools became mainstream. The company reports growing interest from non-crypto developers and coding agents, while Bitcoin traded at $81,627.08 in Moneyiar data on October 8, 2026.

Breez, a Bitcoin software company, says inquiries from businesses seeking to add Bitcoin payments to their applications have increased roughly 14-fold since AI coding tools became widely used. The company says the new demand is coming not only from developers outside the cryptocurrency sector, but increasingly from the software agents building applications on their behalf.

AI tools widen the pool of Bitcoin developers

In a company blog post, Breez linked the change to Anthropic’s Claude Code, which launched as a research preview in February 2025 and became generally available three months later. According to Bitcoin Magazine, the company said the impact became visible as AI-assisted software development moved into broader use.

Before 2025, Breez said most potential partners belonged to one of three groups: dedicated Bitcoin supporters, crypto-focused developers or fintech companies that viewed Bitcoin primarily as an asset class. The company now says it is hearing from developers with little or no previous experience in Bitcoin.

Examples cited by Breez include a fitness application, messaging services that want to let users transfer money, an eSIM provider aimed at travelers and the team developing a mushroom-identification app. Their interest is centered on adding payment functionality rather than building products specifically for the cryptocurrency market.

Why developers and agents are choosing Bitcoin

Breez said speed is one reason developers select Bitcoin. Traditional payment acceptance can require opening a bank account and arranging cross-border transfers, processes the company says may take weeks or months. By contrast, Breez says its software development kit, or SDK, can be operating within minutes.

The company also said a growing portion of requests now comes from software rather than directly from people. Coding agents deployed by companies are increasingly contacting Breez while creating applications for their users.

Breez’s argument is that Bitcoin’s permissionless design allows an agent to build an application and establish payment functionality for users around the world without opening a bank account, completing onboarding checks or signing forms. Traditional payment providers generally operate under customer-verification requirements, and that lack of gatekeeping has long attracted scrutiny from financial regulators.

Breez said its latest SDK implementation, which is built on the Bitcoin scaling protocol Spark, processed the higher volume of requests without problems. The company presented the development as a new stage in the role of software infrastructure, adapting Marc Andreessen’s 2011 argument that software is “eating the world” into the idea that artificial intelligence is now consuming software development itself.

Moneyiar market data recorded at 21:59 on October 8, 2026, showed Bitcoin at $81,627.08, down 1.81% over 24 hours and 3.44% over seven days.

Other assets in the supplied Moneyiar data were mixed. Compound was $23.31, up 0.76% in 24 hours and down 1.63% over seven days. Aethir traded at $0.006347, down 4.39% over 24 hours but up 9.17% over seven days, while Velo was $0.004988, down 6.69% and 18.14% over those periods, respectively.

The reported increase in integration requests highlights how AI-assisted development could bring Bitcoin payment tools to applications whose creators were not previously part of the crypto industry. It also places the technology’s permissionless structure alongside the regulatory checks that govern conventional payment systems.
