The Canton Foundation has approved almost 15.8 million Canton Coin, worth about $1.55 million at the time of the announcement, to support RedStone’s development of an open-source pricing tool for institutions using the Canton Network.
The planned system is intended to let institutions access shared market prices for transactions while keeping agreed settlement amounts private from data providers. The initiative targets a key requirement of institutional markets: valuing assets consistently without disclosing confidential deal terms.
A privacy-focused pricing framework
The project is called the Canton Access and Privacy Standard, or CAPS. Under the proposed framework, a blockchain oracle provider will publish a reference price that institutions can use to calculate transaction values.
An oracle is a service that brings information from outside a blockchain into applications running on it. In this case, the relevant information is market pricing. CAPS is designed to separate that shared reference price from private details about the final terms agreed by transaction participants.
The initial development work will focus on pricing tokenized funds, private-market assets and structured products. RedStone said the pricing calculations and licensing module will be released under the Apache 2.0 open-source license. That license allows other providers to modify and use the software, potentially supporting more than one data provider on the network.
“By supporting open-source initiatives like CAPS, the Foundation is helping establish a shared privacy and licensing framework that enables multiple data providers to serve the network,” Viv Diwakar, head of the Canton Foundation, said in the announcement shared with Cointelegraph.
RedStone and Canton’s institutional network
RedStone has supplied pricing data on Canton since December 2025 and works with ecosystem participants including Temple Digital Group, according to the company. The grant is therefore aimed at expanding an existing role on the network rather than introducing RedStone as a new participant.
Canton Network said in a May blog post that it had onboarded more than 600 institutions, including Goldman Sachs, DTCC, BNY and Franklin Templeton. The network also reported that it was processing around $9 trillion in monthly transaction volume. The stated focus of CAPS on tokenized and private-market assets places the project within Canton’s broader institutional and asset-tokenization activity.
Canton Coin market picture
Moneyiar market data recorded Canton Coin, or CC, at $0.1015628405 at 22:39 on October 25, 2026, with a 0.45% gain over 24 hours and a 2.55% increase over seven days.
The source report said CC was trading at roughly $0.0979 and had a market capitalization of $3.91 billion, with $23.23 million in trading volume over the preceding 24 hours, citing CoinGecko data. Those figures were stated at the time of writing and differ from the later Moneyiar price observation.
The grant is denominated in CC, so its dollar value can change as the token’s market price moves. The foundation approved almost 15.8 million tokens, rather than a fixed dollar payment, making the value reported for the funding dependent on the reference price used at the time.
