Crypto.com’s ai.com agent remains unreleased nearly eight months after Super Bowl launch

Crypto.com’s ai.com personal AI agent remains in development nearly eight months after a $15 million Super Bowl advertisement triggered a rush of visitors and crashed the website. Rival platforms have since introduced narrower AI tools for trading and portfolio management.

Crypto.com’s ai.com agent remains unreleased nearly eight months after Super Bowl launch

Crypto.com’s much-publicized ai.com personal AI agent remains unavailable to the public nearly eight months after the company promoted it during a $15 million Super Bowl advertisement.

The campaign generated immediate interest. Within minutes of the February commercial, traffic overwhelmed ai.com as users attempted to reserve a handle for their own personal agent. Yet the site still tells visitors that agent generation is queued because of high demand.

A Crypto.com spokesperson confirmed to Cointelegraph that the platform is still being developed. “ai.com continues building in stealth mode; we are happy to provide more details when we fully launch to the public,” the spokesperson said.

The delay leaves users waiting for a product that was presented as much broader than a conventional financial chatbot. It also puts Crypto.com’s project in a more competitive market, where other exchanges and major AI developers have already released tools with narrower or more clearly defined functions.

What Crypto.com promised

Ai.com is a business line of Crypto.com. Its February launch announcement described personal AI agents capable of organizing work, sending messages, operating across applications and building projects. The proposed agents were also presented as able to develop capabilities they did not initially have and distribute those improvements across their network.

The platform was pitched as capable of handling tasks ranging from stock trading to updating an online dating profile. That broad scope distinguishes it from assistants designed primarily for portfolio analysis, trade execution or other single-purpose financial activities.

For now, however, the public-facing service has not moved beyond its queue message. Crypto.com has not provided a public launch date in the material available, and the company says the project is being built in “stealth mode.”

Rivals move ahead with focused AI tools

The extended wait comes as competing crypto and financial platforms have begun putting more limited AI functions in users’ hands.

  • Robinhood announced new in-app AI agents on Tuesday that can perform automated trading.
  • Kraken added AI-powered financial tools in July to help users identify investment opportunities and trades based on their financial goals.
  • Bitget launched GetAgent, an AI crypto trading assistant, in June.

Large AI companies have also increased the ability of their assistants to perform tasks across software. Anthropic introduced computer use in Claude Cowork in March, while OpenAI followed in July with ChatGPT Work, designed to complete multistep tasks across connected applications and files.

These launches do not necessarily offer the same range of functions proposed for ai.com. They do, however, show that parts of the broader AI-agent idea are already being applied to trading, portfolio management and routine work while Crypto.com’s flagship public offering remains unavailable.

Crypto.com’s wider AI push

Crypto.com has continued developing other AI-related services while ai.com remains under construction. In March, the company introduced an integration with OpenClaw that allows customers to deploy a personal AI trading agent capable of handling trade execution.

The company also announced an approximately 12% workforce reduction in March, citing the integration of AI across the business. At the time, a spokesperson told Cointelegraph that the cuts were intended to prioritize resources around key growth areas.

In February, Crypto.com obtained ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification. The international standard covers AI management systems, including governance and the responsible development and deployment of AI.

Taken together, the company’s initiatives show that AI remains part of its broader business plans even as the consumer-facing ai.com agent has yet to launch. The central unresolved issue is timing: after a high-profile debut and a surge of initial demand, prospective users still have no public access to the promised general-purpose platform.
