GTA 6 Trailer Sends Solana Meme Coin Dacity Coin Up 2,900%

A two-second reference to Dacity Coin in the GTA 6 launch trailer sent a matching Solana meme coin’s market capitalization from $104,000 to $3.18 million. Twenty-four traders reportedly made more than $10,000, but the token later fell about 53% from its peak.

GTA 6 Trailer Sends Solana Meme Coin Dacity Coin Up 2,900%

A brief appearance in the launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 triggered a sharp rally in a Solana-based meme coin carrying the same name, as traders rushed to buy a token linked to “Dacity Coin.”

The token’s market capitalization rose from $104,000 to $3.18 million in the hour after the trailer was released on Thursday, representing a 2,900% increase. The rally also created substantial gains for a small group of traders: data from DEX Screener showed that 24 wallets made profits of more than $10,000, while the most successful trader turned an investment of $1,912 into $44,000.

A trailer reference becomes a market catalyst

The reference appeared for only about two seconds. In the trailer, “DacityCoin AudaCity” was displayed on the side of a plane while a man ignited a neon-pink flare on its wing. That fleeting image was enough to send the similarly named Solana token sharply higher.

The token was not launched in response to the trailer itself. It had already been created five days earlier, on October 11, through the Solana launchpad Pump.fun. Traders had noticed the name after leaked GTA 6 footage reportedly showed that Dacity Coin would appear in the game.

Following its launch, the token briefly reached a market capitalization of $1.14 million before falling to $144,700 over the next day. It then traded largely sideways until the trailer brought renewed attention. After reaching $3.18 million, the token’s market capitalization retreated by about 53% to roughly $1.5 million, according to the source material.

The timing gave some traders an opportunity to position themselves before the trailer’s release. One social-media post on October 15 highlighted the reference and pointed viewers to the 54-second mark in the trailer. The activity illustrates how quickly meme-coin markets can react to an apparent connection with a popular entertainment franchise, even when the connection consists of a short visual detail.

What Dacity Coin appears to mean in GTA 6

The trailer’s plane carries both “DacityCoin” and “AudaCity” branding. Earlier leaked material reportedly showed GTA 6 protagonist Lucia skydiving with an AudaCity parachute. Leaked screenshots of the parachute included the slogan: “Quit your job. Sell your house. Move [ineligible].”

According to the GTA wiki, Lucia is asked to perform the parachute stunt as part of an effort to advertise the AudaCity brand and attract investment to Dacity Coin. The material suggests that Rockstar may be using the fictional token to mock the extreme promotional tactics sometimes associated with real-world meme coins.

Decrypt, which originally reported the development, noted that cryptocurrency has been the subject of years of speculation around GTA 6. Theories have included play-to-earn mechanics, non-fungible-token properties and a dedicated blockchain for the game. Those ideas were unsubstantiated, while Dacity Coin represents the first clear indication in the supplied material that a cryptocurrency concept will appear in the upcoming title.

The extent of the fictional coin’s role remains unclear. It is not known from the material whether Dacity Coin will be a recurring part of the game or simply a satirical detail in one sequence. Rockstar has not commented on the token, and the studio did not respond to Decrypt’s request for comment.

A familiar pattern for game-linked tokens

The reaction echoes an earlier episode involving Fortnite. In February 2025, the game introduced a fictional cryptocurrency called Dill Bits. Traders quickly created a real Solana token with the same name, pushing it to a $4.78 million market capitalization before it fell 96%.

The token later rose 2,700% in April after Epic Games chief executive Tim Sweeney called it a scam, only to lose 82% within days. Sweeney said he had not launched the token and questioned why traders believed he was responsible. Epic Games subsequently told Decrypt that Fortnite had no real cryptocurrency or meme coin associated with it or endorsed by the company.

The Dacity Coin episode similarly shows the difference between an in-game reference and an officially supported digital asset. The token traded by market participants is a real Solana-based meme coin, but the available material does not establish that it is connected to Rockstar or officially recognized by the game’s developer.
