Ledger has introduced Atom, a touchscreen Android device designed to combine everyday mobile applications with the company’s hardware-based security for cryptocurrency transactions. The announcement was made at Ledger’s Op3n conference in Paris on Thursday, as the firm continues investigating tampered wallets sold through a reseller in Southeast Asia.
A mobile device built around a secure signing environment
Ledger describes Atom as a “signer” rather than a conventional hardware wallet. The device runs the Android Open Source Project and includes a Ledger Secure Element chip running Ledger OS. It can be used for ordinary third-party applications, encrypted messaging between Atom users and crypto transactions.
For sensitive actions, including signing transactions and authorising requests from artificial-intelligence agents, Atom switches into a Ledger OS-powered “Secure Mode”. Ledger says the screen and touch controls are physically isolated from Android. Approvals made through the Solana Seeker app will also take place in this Secure Mode and be backed by the Secure Element.
The device has a 6.77-inch OLED display, a rear camera and a 4,000mAh battery. It uses a Qualcomm Dragonwing chip and includes a physical privacy switch that cuts power to both the camera and microphone. Atom also comes with a data-only eSIM.
That combination is intended to put wallet security into a device that can also function as an everyday Android product. In practical terms, users can keep access to mobile applications while moving sensitive transaction approvals into a separate hardware-backed environment.
Solana’s Seeker app will be preinstalled
Solana Mobile has named Ledger its first hardware expansion partner. As part of the agreement, Atom will ship with the Seeker app and Solana dApp Store preinstalled, with the app displayed on the device’s home screen.
Seeker combines Solana Mobile’s wallet with its marketplace for decentralized applications. The Solana dApp Store lists more than 1,500 decentralized apps and, until this announcement, was available on Solana Mobile’s own Seeker phone. Existing Seeker phones will continue to be supported.
Solana Mobile began opening its software stack to other Android manufacturers in March. The company says Seeker has processed more than $13 billion in transaction volume and 154 million transactions, while more than 200,000 devices have been sold across the Seeker and earlier Saga phones.
Hardware makers integrating the software stack can earn rewards in SKR, the native token of the Solana Mobile ecosystem. The token is also used to reward users and developers, according to the release.
“Having the Seeker app on Ledger Atom from day one just makes sense, so Ledger users get access to the Solana ecosystem without giving up any of the security,” Ian Rogers, Ledger’s chief human agency officer, said in the announcement.
Reservations for Atom are open, but Ledger and Solana Mobile have not announced a price or shipping date. According to Decrypt, the announcement took place on October 15, 2026.
Launch follows investigation into tampered wallets
The Atom announcement arrives while Ledger is examining a security incident involving hardware wallets sold through its reseller network. Ledger said its Donjon security team discovered an implant in a wallet sold by Southeast Asian reseller CryptoBilis.
According to the source material, the implant captures recovery phrases during device setup and transmits them over LTE. Recovery phrases are the words used to restore access to a crypto wallet, so their compromise can allow funds to be taken. The suspected wallet drain has been linked to $87 million.
Ledger asked resellers in six Southeast Asian countries and Hong Kong to remove its devices from shelves. The company says Atom will include anti-tampering and tamper-evident measures covering both its packaging and the device. These features are intended to help identify whether the enclosure has been opened. Atom will be sold only through Ledger’s official website.
The timing makes the security architecture a central part of the new product’s positioning. Atom is not simply a phone with a wallet application: its transaction-signing functions are designed to operate through Ledger’s Secure Element and Ledger OS, separated from the Android environment.
