Meta Unveils Muse Wonder AI Models as Rival to OpenAI and Anthropic

Meta has launched Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full, claiming the models rival leading systems from OpenAI and Anthropic. Independent scores placed Wonder Full near the top of the comparison, but an AI executive challenged the results. Meta is also charging premium prices for access.

Meta Unveils Muse Wonder AI Models as Rival to OpenAI and Anthropic

Meta has introduced two new artificial intelligence models, Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full, presenting them as the company’s most capable systems so far and a move toward what co-founder Mark Zuckerberg called “personal superintelligence.”

According to Cointelegraph, Meta said the models are designed to handle longer-running and more demanding interactions through two capabilities it has named Active Memory and Active Focus. Active Memory carries relevant information from one conversation to another, while Active Focus is intended to help an AI agent maintain its effort on difficult tasks.

The launch places Meta’s latest models in direct competition with systems from OpenAI and Anthropic. However, the performance comparison has already drawn criticism from at least one industry evaluator, making the strength of Meta’s claims a key part of the early discussion.

Benchmark results put Meta near leading models

Artificial Analysis, an independent evaluation platform, gave Muse Wonder Full a score of 56 on its Intelligence Index when tested at maximum reasoning effort. The standard Muse Wonder received a score of 52 under the same condition.

On that comparison, Wonder Full ranked above Claude Fable 5.1 and GPT-6 Astra, which each scored 53. It remained below Claude Opus 5.5, whose score was 58.

The results were disputed by Bindu Reddy, chief executive of Abacus.AI, which carries out its own model evaluations. In a post on X, Reddy said Muse Wonder was “nowhere near Fable or Astra level” and said that more detailed benchmark results would follow.

The conflicting assessments underline why model rankings can be difficult to interpret. Results may depend on the evaluation method, the amount of reasoning effort used and the specific tasks included in a test. Meta’s announcement therefore represents a claim of competitive performance, rather than a universally accepted ranking.

Pricing and access

Meta said the new models are its most expensive to date. The standard Wonder model costs $4 per million input tokens, a measure commonly used to price the amount of text or data supplied to an AI system.

That price matches Claude Opus 5.5, while remaining below the reported rates for GPT-6 Astra and Claude Fable 5.1, which cost $10 and $50 per million input tokens respectively.

Wonder Full has more limited availability. It is offered only to subscribers of Muse Code’s paid plans: the $50-a-month “power usage” tier or the $200-a-month “maximum usage” tier. This separates the higher-performing version from the standard model and places it within a premium subscription offering.
