Ripple and Robinhood are broadening their partnership to distribute Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin across Robinhood’s retail and institutional businesses, while adding integrations for treasury management, lending, trading and institutional settlement.
The announcement was made Tuesday alongside Ripple’s Swell 2026 conference in New York, according to Cointelegraph. RLUSD is already available on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp by Robinhood. A launch in the Robinhood app is planned for later this year, and Robinhood intends to use RLUSD on the XRP Ledger for institutional settlement.
Wider role for RLUSD at Robinhood
Robinhood will also adopt Ripple Treasury for global cash and liquidity management. The system is intended to support payment processing, cash-flow forecasting and transactions between Robinhood companies, extending the relationship into the trading platform’s internal financial operations.
The agreement also builds on Robinhood’s existing relationship with Ripple Prime. Ripple Prime provides financing services to Bitstamp by Robinhood and plans to introduce perpetual futures trading on the exchange later this year.
RLUSD, launched in December 2024, had a market capitalization of $2.57 billion, with nearly $1 billion issued on the XRP Ledger, according to DeFiLlama data cited in the report. Robinhood reported 28.6 million funded customers globally as of August, giving the stablecoin a potentially broad distribution channel. Stablecoins are digital tokens designed to maintain a value linked to a reference asset, such as the US dollar.
Ripple adds custody and trade-finance applications
Ripple separately announced an expanded relationship with BNY, which now supports custody of XRP and RLUSD through its Digital Asset Custody platform. The companies plan to enable BNY clients to mint and redeem RLUSD directly through the bank and to expand support for tokenized assets issued on the XRP Ledger.
Ripple has also partnered with working-capital platform C2FO to move financing and settlement for its Instant Pay service onto the XRP Ledger using RLUSD. The service is designed to let suppliers receive payment against approved invoices in seconds rather than wait days for traditional bank settlement.
C2FO told Cointelegraph that Instant Pay is being tested. A controlled launch and the first RLUSD transactions on the XRP Ledger are expected by the end of the year.
Market picture and regulatory backdrop
The announcements came after Ripple received final approval from the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to establish a national trust bank. The new institution will manage reserves backing RLUSD and provide digital-asset custody services, while RLUSD issuance will remain with Ripple’s New York-regulated subsidiary.
