SAP Pay Adds USDC Settlement Route for Eligible Circle Mint Institutions

SAP customers can now access a USDC settlement route within SAP Pay through an integration between Circle and payments provider Tereina, giving eligible institutional users another way to handle certain business payments without leaving their existing enterprise-resource-planning workflows.

The service is available only to institutions that meet Circle Mint’s requirements, and access also depends on regional availability. The companies have not disclosed transaction volumes, customer savings or adoption figures for the new route. According to CryptoSlate, the integration was announced on Oct. 7, one day after SAP introduced SAP Pay as a payment service embedded in SAP Cloud ERP.

How the SAP Pay and Circle route works

SAP Pay is designed to execute and reconcile payments when invoices become due. The new connection adds stablecoin settlement to the payment methods available through the service, alongside established banking rails, internal approvals, payment controls and reporting processes.

USDC is the preferred stablecoin for eligible dollar-denominated workflows. Circle’s EURC is available as an option for euro-related activity. A stablecoin is a digital asset designed to maintain a value linked to a reference currency or asset; in this case, USDC is intended to track the US dollar and EURC the euro.

Circle identifies several possible uses for the payment route, including paying suppliers across borders, moving funds between entities within the same company, and settling accounts payable and accounts receivable. Circle Mint connects to the SAP environment through an application programming interface, or API. The connection allows eligible users to mint, redeem and manage USDC within the relevant payment setup.

The stated aim is to make stablecoin settlement part of existing treasury and payment operations rather than create a separate process. Circle promotes USDC settlement as available around the clock and near-instant, although the announcement does not provide measured results for this particular integration. It also does not quantify any effect on working capital, reconciliation time or payment costs.

Institutional access and regional restrictions

Use of the route is not open to individual applicants. Circle Mint is offered to institutions, which must complete onboarding requirements that include background checks, identity verification, know-your-customer procedures and sanctions screening. Circle says the process can take one day to a week or longer.

Regional rules add another limitation. SAP’s Connect guide says SAP Pay is generally available in the United States and the United Kingdom. However, separate terms on SAP’s product page limit transaction processing to customers or affiliates domiciled in the United States or the European Union unless supporting documentation provides otherwise. The source material does not clarify how the United Kingdom availability described in the guide fits with those domicile terms.

Circle’s own regional conditions apply separately. Its general Mint country guidance distinguishes between fiat connectivity and wallet-only support, but the full country coverage for this specific SAP Pay integration has not been stated.

Banking arrangements may still matter even when a payment uses USDC. Circle’s general wire instructions require an institutional bank account capable of sending wires to Circle’s US bank account. Circle also says redemptions are not supported for accounts that require an intermediary bank to receive dollar wires.

Planned customer testing and Moneyiar market picture

Circle and Tereina plan to run joint proof-of-value programs with customers over the coming months. They also intend to develop adoption information as implementations proceed, train treasury and payments professionals, and work with ecosystem partners. These plans indicate that the companies are still gathering evidence about how customers will use the new route.

SAP’s guide refers to an unnamed distributor using SAP Pay, but it does not say that the distributor uses Circle’s stablecoins. The example therefore demonstrates use of SAP Pay itself, not measured adoption of the new USDC functionality.

Moneyiar market data at 21:53-21:54 on Oct. 8, 2026, showed USDC at $0.9997735531, with a 0% change over 24 hours and a 7-day change of -0.02%. Other listed assets were also lower: Flow was $0.0296389287, down 8.15% over 24 hours and 4.27% over seven days; Request was $0.0527136193, down 1.86% and 6.88%, respectively; and RedStone was $0.1439379346, down 3.79% over 24 hours and 18.22% over seven days.

The SAP Pay development gives institutional finance teams an additional settlement option, but its practical reach will depend on Circle eligibility, jurisdictional rules, banking connectivity and the results of the planned customer programs. No transaction-volume or customer-savings measurement has yet been disclosed.
