Solana is moving to a 250-millisecond target slot time, a change that speeds up block production by 17% while leaving the network’s transaction capacity unchanged, CoinDesk reported. The shorter interval is intended to provide applications with more up-to-date blockchain data and give validators less time to control each slot. To maintain the same overall transaction capacity, the amount of work permitted in an individual slot will also be reduced. The update therefore changes the timing of Solana’s block process rather than expanding the volume of transactions the network can handle. SOL is the native asset associated with the network.
