Strive Buys $280 Million of Bitcoin, Outpacing Strategy by 13 to 1

Strive Asset Management has emerged as the most aggressive Bitcoin buyer in the latest reported week, purchasing 3,311 BTC for approximately $280 million between October 5 and 9. The acquisition was made as the cryptocurrency market declined, at an average price of about $84,500 per bitcoin, according to Decrypt.

The transaction gives Strive, listed on Nasdaq under the ticker ASST and run by Matthew Cole, a total Bitcoin holding of 32,773 BTC. The position was valued at roughly $2.73 billion in the source report. It also represents Strive’s largest single Bitcoin purchase since January, following acquisitions worth $94.5 million in late September and $169 million in early October.

Strive takes the lead in weekly buying

Strive’s purchase was substantially larger than the latest acquisition by Strategy, the company associated with Michael Saylor. Over the same period, Strategy bought 250 BTC for approximately $21.5 million. On that measure, Strive purchased about 13 times as much Bitcoin as Strategy during the week.

The shift is notable because Strategy has been widely identified with corporate Bitcoin accumulation for years. However, the latest figures distinguish between the company with the largest overall Bitcoin treasury and the company buying most aggressively at the moment.

Strategy remains far ahead in total holdings. Its reported balance is 848,250 BTC, worth about $51 billion in the source material—more than 25 times Strive’s holdings. The new figures therefore do not mean that Strive has overtaken Strategy as the largest corporate Bitcoin holder.

Instead, they show a change in the pace of recent purchases. Strategy’s buying declined for a second consecutive week, while the company spent approximately $192 million buying back its own preferred shares during the same week—nearly nine times the amount it spent on Bitcoin. Its mNAV, a measure comparing a company’s market value with the value of its Bitcoin holdings, also fell below 1.0 for the first time. That means the market value of the company was below the value of the Bitcoin on its balance sheet.

A new preferred-stock fundraising plan

Strive has also outlined a way to finance additional purchases. The asset manager is selling 5 million shares of a new preferred stock class, called SATS shares, at $100 each. The offering is intended to raise $500 million, with the proceeds earmarked for buying more Bitcoin.

The preferred stock carries a fixed 15% dividend paid daily. In annual terms, that represents a 15% coupon and would amount to $75 million a year on the full $500 million offering. The structure gives Strive a source of capital for further Bitcoin purchases, while creating a substantial fixed cash obligation for the company.

The development comes as Strategy’s own preferred shares, identified in the report as STRC, reached $99.90, their highest level since a depeg in May. The report said the price could allow Strategy’s Bitcoin purchases to resume, setting up a potential contest between the two corporate treasury strategies.

A company using its balance sheet to hold Bitcoin is often described as a corporate Bitcoin treasury. Such companies can gain exposure to the cryptocurrency without being investment funds, but their financing arrangements—including debt, preferred shares and equity issuance—are central to how they build their holdings. The figures reported for Strive and Strategy show that ownership size and current buying activity can move in different directions.

Crypto markets and ETF flows

The latest market backdrop was cautiously stronger ahead of the release of consumer-price data, or CPI. Bitcoin was reported at $83,600, up 0.2%, while Ether rose 0.2% to $2,507. Solana gained 1% to $107. Among other listed assets, HYPE fell 1% to $82 and ZEC rose 3% to $1,250. Oil gained 4% to $96, gold slipped 0.4% to $4,160, and stock futures were mixed, with the Dow up 0.3% and Nasdaq futures down 0.2%.

U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $175 million in net inflows on Tuesday, while Ether ETFs attracted $25 million. The Ether products ended a 10-day run of net outflows. ETF flows are closely watched because they indicate whether investors are adding or withdrawing exposure through exchange-traded products, although they do not by themselves determine the direction of prices.

Moneyiar market data, recorded on October 15, 2026, at approximately 21:33-21:34 Tehran time, showed mixed performance among selected tokens:

  • RedStone (RED): $0.158079324, up 0.61% over 24 hours and 9.55% over seven days.
  • Notcoin (NOT): $0.0004202324, down 1.85% over 24 hours and 3.85% over seven days.
  • Ontology Gas (ONG): $0.0823579555, down 1.46% over 24 hours and 4.85% over seven days.
  • Movement (MOVE): $0.0079948569, down 1.19% over 24 hours and 10.13% over seven days.

The combination of Strive’s large purchase, Strategy’s slower accumulation and renewed ETF inflows provides the latest snapshot of institutional and corporate demand for major cryptocurrencies. It does not change Strategy’s position as the dominant corporate holder, but it makes Strive the leading buyer in the latest reported period.
