Unlimit Founder Commits $45 Million to Phase Blockchain as Mainnet Launches

Phase has launched a blockchain designed to turn smartphones into small-scale infrastructure for artificial-intelligence services, with Unlimit founder Kirill Eves committing $45 million to fund the project’s first two years and provide a further two years of runway.

The network allows smartphone owners to earn PHASE tokens by validating transactions and sharing their internet connections with AI agents. Phase Proxy, launched alongside the blockchain, routes web requests from AI agents through connections supplied by participating phones.

According to Cointelegraph, Phase said it has no outside investors. Eves’ funding commitment is therefore the project’s initial financial backing as it begins developing its network and related services.

A blockchain built around smartphones

Users can participate through the Phase app. Their phones may contribute in two ways: validating blocks on the network and providing internet connectivity through the proxy service. The level of participation is adjusted according to a device’s battery level and connection quality.

Eves said current flagship smartphones can provide roughly 35–45 TOPS, or trillions of operations per second, of AI processing performance, depending on the device. That capacity can allow phones to run smaller open-weight AI models locally.

The project is aimed at a problem facing AI agents that browse the internet on behalf of users. Websites frequently block or limit automated traffic coming from data centers, including traffic associated with legitimate requests. Eves said those restrictions could become a significant obstacle as AI agents perform more tasks across different websites.

Cloudflare, an internet infrastructure provider, gives website operators tools to manage AI-related traffic. For new domains, its settings block agent and training traffic on pages that display advertisements.

Computing services planned for November

Phase said it plans to introduce an AI computing service in November, allowing smartphone users to contribute processing power. A second service, also expected in November, is intended to route requests across different AI models.

The company also plans to develop its own AI model and extend participation beyond smartphones to desktops, servers and graphics processing units.

Phase said revenue from these services would partly be used to purchase PHASE tokens on the open market. Those tokens would then be used to reward operators running network nodes. The announcement did not provide a token price, a timetable for market purchases or details on the size of the rewards.

Eves founded Unlimit in 2009 and developed it into a global payments company. Unlimit said in December 2025 that it served more than 50,000 businesses worldwide.
