Zcash is targeting a November network upgrade, known as NU7, that could make private payments up to three times faster, according to CoinDesk. The proposal would reduce block times to 25 seconds, allowing transactions to be processed more frequently on the network. NU7 would also change how transaction fees support the mining ecosystem. Beginning in 2031, at least 60% of transaction fees would be set aside to supplement mining rewards. The upgrade’s proposed changes are focused on transaction speed and the longer-term funding of Zcash mining. Zcash’s native asset is ZEC.
