Zcash Private Transactions May Fall Below 200 Milliseconds

Private Zcash transactions could become substantially faster if a new cryptography stack from Zakura performs as described. The technology is reported to make proof generation on mobile devices more than 14 times faster, potentially reducing the waiting period from about three seconds to less than 200 milliseconds when users send private ZEC. The improvement addresses one of the key delays associated with private Zcash transactions: generating the cryptographic proof required for the transfer. Faster mobile proof generation could make shielded transactions feel more responsive, although the reported performance relates to Zakura’s technology and does not represent a confirmed network-wide change for Zcash. CoinDesk reported the development on Aug. 31, 2026. ZEC is the native asset of the Zcash network, which supports private transactions.
