Hong Kong has designated Nasdaq-listed Solana Company (HSDT) as a strategic enterprise, giving the blockchain infrastructure firm access to a government-supported framework intended to attract businesses considered important to the city’s economic development.
The company said it was selected in the seventh group admitted by Hong Kong’s Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises, known as OASES. According to Cointelegraph, Solana Company was the only blockchain infrastructure business added to the program in 2026.
Government-backed designation
Hong Kong’s government confirmed the addition of 18 enterprises to the strategic-enterprise program last week. The latest intake takes the total number of participating businesses to 142.
For Solana Company, the designation provides a formal channel for working with public authorities as it develops its presence in the city. A company spokesperson told Cointelegraph that the arrangement includes a single point of contact across government departments and regulators.
The company also said the status can provide faster routes for recruiting talent from overseas and introductions to institutional partners in Hong Kong. The source material did not disclose the financial terms of the designation or specify a timetable for the company’s planned local expansion.
Validator plans under Pacific Backbone
Solana Company operates staking and validator infrastructure, services that support the operation and security of blockchain networks. It also advises financial institutions on adopting blockchain technology and holds Solana’s SOL token as part of its digital-asset treasury strategy.
The firm said it intends to establish Solana validator operations in Hong Kong. The planned activity is part of Pacific Backbone, an initiative focused on building a low-latency blockchain infrastructure network across the Asia-Pacific region.
A validator helps process and verify transactions on a proof-of-stake blockchain such as Solana. In general terms, staking involves committing tokens to support network operations, while validator infrastructure provides the computing systems needed to participate in that process. The company did not provide further details about the scale, investment or launch date of the Hong Kong operations.
The designation places the company’s proposed validator activity within Hong Kong’s broader effort to attract strategic businesses. It does not, based on the available information, represent a government investment in Solana Company or a guarantee that the planned operations will proceed on a particular schedule.
