Microsoft, Alphabet, Goldman Sachs and four other major companies have objected to plans for their shares to be traded on OKXICE TSV, a planned digital venue for tokenized stocks. The objections bring the number of issuers listed in opposition to 16, highlighting growing corporate resistance as the platform prepares for round-the-clock trading.

Seven More Companies Added to Objection List

According to Decrypt, an updated public notice dated October 19 names Microsoft, Alphabet, Goldman Sachs, Qualcomm, Caterpillar, McDonald’s and Western Digital as companies that have objected to trading of their shares on OKXICE TSV.

The latest additions follow an October 15 notice that listed nine issuers, including Verizon, Broadcom, UnitedHealth Group, CoreWeave and Rocket Lab. Neither notice gives reasons for the objections or clarifies whether an objection automatically prevents a company’s shares from appearing on the venue.

Goldman Sachs’ inclusion is notable because the bank has also invested in blockchain-based markets. The notices do not indicate whether the objections reflect a common concern or separate decisions by each company.

How the Tokenized Stock Venue Would Work

OKXICE TSV is being developed by cryptocurrency exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, the owner of the New York Stock Exchange. The venue is designed to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, using liquidity pools on Uniswap v4 and OKX’s XLayer blockchain. Trades would be settled with stablecoins, including USDC and USDT.

Under the model described in the venue’s notice, a third-party tokenizer would buy and hold corresponding real shares through a registered broker-dealer, then issue digital tokens intended to carry the same dividend and voting rights. The updated notice also says OKXICE may list stocks tokenized by the issuing company itself, rather than only tokens created by an unaffiliated outside party.

That change could give companies a more direct role in determining how their shares are represented on a blockchain. However, the notice does not say whether any of the 16 companies plans to tokenize its own stock.

Regulatory Setting and Market Picture

OKXICE is expected to operate under an innovation exemption introduced by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in September, after the Clarity Act stalled in the Senate. The exemption allows venues to trade tokenized U.S. stocks without registering as exchanges. The notice also acknowledges that OKXICE would not be subject to Regulation NMS or fair-access requirements.

Nasdaq, which received SEC approval for its own tokenized-securities pilot, has said it will opt its shares out of the exemption. The International Monetary Fund has warned that tokenized stock markets remain volatile and illiquid despite evidence of demand.
