Securitize is preparing to offer tokenized versions of 12 major U.S. stocks through Solana-based infrastructure, starting with its own trading platform before potentially expanding to planned venues linked to the New York Stock Exchange and OKX. The initial basket includes Apple, Nvidia, Tesla, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Netflix, Circle, Strategy and Palantir.
How the tokenized shares will work
The product, called Securitize Stocks, will initially trade on Securitize’s PropAMM platform, which operates on the Solana blockchain. Jump Trading will provide liquidity, while RQD will support clearing, custody and settlement. Transactions are expected to settle in USDC, a stablecoin designed to maintain a value of one U.S. dollar.
Each token is intended to be backed one-for-one by an underlying share. Securitize said the tokens are designed to retain key economic and governance benefits associated with the stocks, including dividends and voting rights. However, holders will receive security entitlements rather than direct ownership recorded on the issuing company’s shareholder register.
Securitize said conversion to direct ownership could become available if companies adopt tokenization themselves. The distinction is important because tokenized securities use blockchain-based representations of traditional financial assets, while the underlying legal and ownership arrangements remain connected to established securities infrastructure.
Eligible investors in the United States, Europe and other permitted markets are expected to be able to trade the tokens initially during extended market hours. Securitize said it plans to expand access to 24-hour trading.
Planned exchange expansion and regulatory backdrop
The first trading venue will be Securitize’s own platform, but the company also expects the stock tokens to become available on the New York Stock Exchange’s planned 24/7 digital trading platform and on the OKXICE Tokenized Securities Venue. The latter is being developed through a joint venture between Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of NYSE, and cryptocurrency exchange OKX.
Those plans are conditional. The venues must launch and satisfy applicable regulatory requirements before the tokens can trade there. The OKX-ICE venture filed this week to introduce tokenized stock trading under the framework of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, according to the source material.
The development comes as regulators and financial firms examine how blockchain-based securities markets could operate within the U.S. system. The SEC recently introduced an “innovation exemption” intended to create a route for new tokenized-securities trading venues built on blockchain infrastructure.
The sector’s supporters point to potential advantages such as longer trading hours, faster settlement and the possibility of using tokenized shares as collateral in on-chain lending markets. The launch nevertheless depends on the legal, custody, clearing and market-structure arrangements required for regulated securities trading.
Securitize’s role in the market
Founded in 2017, Florida-based Securitize focuses on placing traditional financial assets on blockchain networks. The company said it has issued $4.5 billion in tokenized assets. It is also known for issuing BlackRock’s first blockchain-based money market fund.
Securitize has received backing from BlackRock and ARK Invest and went public on the New York Stock Exchange in June. It has separately tokenized about $300 million of its own publicly traded shares, with those tokens available on Solana and Avalanche.
For the new stock product, RQD will connect the tokenized assets with traditional securities-market infrastructure through its work on clearing, custody and settlement. Ripple Prime plans to explore institutional applications for the assets, while Securitize said the offering is intended to preserve investor protections and the infrastructure supporting U.S. capital markets.
The announcement places Securitize among financial and crypto-market firms competing to develop blockchain-based access to equities. It also highlights the growing role of established exchanges and market operators as tokenized securities move from experimental products toward regulated trading venues.
